Recognize Your Juniors: Fairly Hunted Award

As hunting winds down, members are encouraged to submit names of juniors who have hunted at least five times this season, to your Masters. These children will be recognized by the MFHA with our Fairly Hunted Award, which includes a certificate, pin, subscription to Covertside, and having their names published on our website. Juniors are eligible each year that they hunt, so let your Masters know if your young rider is eligible. For more information, please click here.

Special Awards at the MFHA Annual Meeting

The MFHA recognized individual and hunt club contributions to our sport at the Annual Meeting in New York City two weeks ago.

Potomac Hunt (MD), Penny Denegre and Jeff Blue of Middleburg Hunt (VA), all received accolades for their dedication to preserving and promoting mounted foxhunting.

Ian Milne Trophy to be Presented at Staff Seminar in April

The Ian Milne Trophy is an award for professional huntsmen. At the Biennial Staff Seminar, the MFHA Foundation presents this honor to a huntsman, representing any MFHA member hunt, who has "distinguished himself or herself and has been recognized by their peers as an exceptional contributor to the sport of foxhunting." More than twenty well-respected professionals were queried to make recommendations that could not include themselves. The final selection was made after considering their proposals by a panel of Masters who also hunt their own hounds. The recipient will receive a trophy and a check for $1,000. Past recipients include Tommy Lee Jones of Casanova Hunt (VA) and Larry Pitts, Potomac Hunt (MD). The 2016 Biennial Staff Seminar, in Chantilly, Virginia, takes place April 22-24.
