The 2016 Hound Show season has drawn to a close, with the Canadian Hound Show rounding out the competitions last month. The MFHA-sanctioned shows reflected the variety of sport across our continent, gathering breeding enthusiasts to venues in Florida, Maryland, Texas, Pennsylvania, Vermont, South Carolina, Ontario, Kansas, and Virginia.
These nine events enjoyed entries from more than three dozen hunt clubs, with eight different hounds earning Grand Champion (Midland Striker '15 winning at both the Southern Hound Show and at Virginia). Most shows featured the audience-pleasing Horn Blowing Contest and popular Junior Handler divisions to encourage youth participation. In addition to many American and Canadian huntsmen and Masters being invited to judge in other regions, several distinguished experts traveled from the United Kingdom to evaluate our standards of breeding.
