NSLM 2013-2014 John H. Daniels Fellows Announced


MIDDLEBURG, VA - The National Sporting Library & Museum (NSLM) announces the John H. Daniels Fellows for 2013 – 2014. The program began in 2007 in honor of sportsman and book collector, John H. Daniels (1921-2006), a longtime supporter of the Library. Awards are made annually. Fellows from around the United States and several other countries have become scholars-in-residence at the NSLM for periods of one year or less. Disciplines include history, literature, equine studies, journalism, art history, anthropology, area studies and sport and environmental history. The new list brings the number of awardees to forty-five.

Live Oak Hounds Huntsman Dale Barnett Injured While Deer Hunting

Dale Barnett, Huntsman for Live Oak Hounds (FL) was injured while deer hunting the evening of Friday, November 3, 2012 and cut multiple tendons in his left wrist. He successfully underwent surgery the morning of Tuesday, November 6 and is expected to make a full recovery. Barnett will undergo several months of physical therapy following the removal of his cast. Although he will be sidelined, Barnett will be wheel whipping for quite some time.

Live Oak Kennel Huntsman Richard Daley will carry the horn while Barnett recovers.

Consisting of leaders from the equine industry, trail groups, land conservation and stewardship organizations, government agencies, and equine-related business backgrounds, this Council provides invaluable support to ELCR's growth and development by advising staff and board members on complex or specialized issues, as well as general goals and direction of the organization.
