Rose Tree Hunt and Blue Mountain Hunt Merge

A new tradition is about to begin as the 2015-16 fox hunting season gets started. The Rose Tree Hunt (PA) and Blue Mountain Hunt (PA) were approved for merger by the Master of Foxhounds Association in May. The merger comes after the decision by RTH's Master Mike Shupp and Huntsman Justin Shupp to take a break from fox hunting after leading Rose Tree for nine years.

News from the North

Wellington-Waterloo Hunt in Cambridge, Ontario will celebrate their 50th anniversary this coming season. There are some personnel changes too, as Kris Baker has retired as Joint Master, a position she has held since 2003. Over the years, Kris has done it all: Master, president, huntsman and whipper-in. This year’s opening meet on September 27, 2015 will be a gala occasion reflecting the hunt's 50-year anniversary and guests from other hunts will be welcomed.

Colin Brown arrived from England to assume his duties as the new huntsman for the Eglinton and Caledon Hunt. Colin’s last position as a huntsman was in Northern Ireland with the Mid Antrim Hounds. Previous to that he was the Kennel Huntsman at Western Hunt in Cornwall, and previous to that at the Essex Farmers and Union Hunt, and the Waverley Harriers.

Hound Show Happenings

The annual hound shows bring the foxhunting community together for educational purposes, to evaluate the quality of hounds, and to facilitate discussion and sharing of ideas about our beloved sport.
