MIDDLEBURG, VA – The NSLM Meet the Author Series will host Chistianna Hannum Miller, filmmaker, documentarian, and grand-daughter of Nancy Penn Smith Hannum on Tuesday, October 6, 2015 from 6 to 8 pm.
The event will begin with a reception followed by a showing of Hannum’s 37-minute documentary, Goodnight Ladies: a Portrait of Nancy Penn Smith Hannum. Copies of the film will be available for purchase after the showing. Admission to the event is $10, free to NSLM Members.
Goodnight Ladies explores the determination and vivacity of Nancy Hannum, renowned horsewoman, master of foxhounds, and conservationist. The film, which interweaves fullyrestored archival footage is woven throughout the film, is a recipient of the Eastman Kodak Prize.
Christianna Hannum Miller was born in Unionville, Pennsylvania and grew up riding ponies and spending summers at the barn with her grandmother, brothers, and sisters. She attended St. George’s School in Newport, Rhode Island and The University of Pennsylvania, with a degree in the History of Art and Italian. She is a writer, a fundraiser and a teacher.

The National Sporting Library & Museum is dedicated to preserving, promoting and sharing the literature, art and culture of equestrian, angling and field sports. Founded in 1954, NSLM holds thousands of books on sporting topics including hunting, angling, equestrianism and horseracing, among others. The Library collection dates from the 16th-21st centuries. The Museum houses exhibits of American and European animal and sporting fine art. Information is shared through exhibitions, lectures, seminars, publications and special events. The NSLM is open to researchers and the general public.
