The National Sporting Library & Museum (NSLM) will host a new monthly series in 2015. Sporting Conversations: Lectures by John H. Daniels Fellows will allow the public to learn about new discoveries and research by the John H. Daniels Fellows. This series will feature current and former Fellows as they share their expertise, research, and experiences studying the unique collections, resources and rare books found at the National Sporting Library & Museum.
The first Sporting Conversations lecture of 2015 will feature Elizabeth Tobey and will take place on Saturday, February 21, 2015 at 2:00 pm at the NSLM campus in Middleburg, VA. Admission is free for NSLM members and $5.00 for non-members. The event is open to the public.
Tobey, the first recipient of the John H. Daniels Fellowship in 2007, will discuss her research of Frederico Grisone’s The Rules of Riding (1550) and her recent publication, the first English translation of Grisone’s work. Copies of the publication will be available for purchase (cash or check only) and the author will be available to sign purchased books.
