March 15 Photo of the Month by Cathy Summers

Four years ago, Cathy Summers pulled her Jack Russell Terriers out of a hole under a shed in her Falls Church, Va. backyard, in what was at one point Fairfax Hunt country. Several weeks later, she first spied the vixen in entering her den under the shed. After sequestering the terriers at the family farm outside Charlottesville, Cathy was able to start taking photos of the vixen and her young. She has followed the same pattern every spring since, and has let her backyard “go wild” to provide a better home for the foxes.

Mooreland (AL) Huntsman Rhodri Jones-Evans collects the hounds after a great run that took the pack out of their country to the east, over the treacherous creek and into Full Cry country. It was a mad dash via creek and road to get people over there and get the hounds stopped off a coyote determined to run and run. After that picture was taken, the trailers started arriving from the Mooreland meet site so everyone could box up and head back to the tailgate no few miles away.
