The United States Pony Clubs, Inc. is pleased to announce the winners of the 13th Annual Live Oak Hounds USPC Foxhunting Challenge. The Live Oak Challenge is designed to encourage Pony Club members who do not regularly hunt to try the sport, and to reward members who hunt on a regular basis to act as mentors to the less-experienced Pony Club members. For their achievements, $10,000 is distributed among the top Pony Clubs who regularly take the greatest percentage (based on total number of members) of active Pony Club members hunting.

This award is made possible through the generous support of Mr. and Mrs. C. Martin Wood III, Joint Masters of the Live Oak Hounds in Monticello, Florida, and past presidents of the MFHA. We had 78 Pony Club members participating for a total of 583 days hunting. Of the 78 members taking part, 25 were new participants who had not competed for this award in the past.

We were excited to have one of our USPC Riding Centers participate this year for the first time. That was Capall Equestrian Pony Club Riding Center in Kansas. They hunted with the Mission Valley Hunt (KS). They had four members participate who went out a total of 16 times with Mission Valley. Our Riding Centers allow children who do not own their own horse to participate in USPC activities and programs on schoolhorses at approved facilities.

Many thanks to the MFHA hunts who welcomed these children in their fields last season: Old Dominion Hounds, Bear Creek Hounds, Rose Tree-Blue Mountain Hunt, Mells Foxhounds, Hillsboro Hounds, Red Rock Hounds, Elkridge-Harford Hunt, Arapahoe Hunt, Mission Valley Hunt, Live Oak Hounds, Spring Valley Hounds, and Long Run Woodford Hounds.
