The Aiken Hounds Foundation sponsored a Foxhunting Camp for Juniors this past Saturday and by all impressions and feedback, it was a great success. We had 13 eager future foxhunters enroll and spend the day learning about the sport. Our Joint Master Larry Byers was a huge success with the kids and kept them enthralled all day, even playing the elusive fox for a mock hunt.

Chan Carman hosted the event at her beautiful barn and teaching facility, the Riding School Aiken. Huntsman Katherine Gunter and kennelman Ladd Houston graciously opened the kennels and gave the kids an up close and personal view of the hounds. Our hound Peter, stole the show and made all the kids want to take him home.

Dessie Hughes provided a hot dog and hamburger lunch which was delicious and kept the energy levels up. Christine Rolka took lots of photos and helped record the day in addition to bringing two young ladies who will no doubt come out with us on our junior days.

Thank you to everyone who helped and to the parents who took time out to bring their kids to this event. We look forward to sharing many more fun times in the saddle and in our Hitchcock Woods with these, and many more juniors this coming season.

Looking forward to a fun 2018-19 hunting season.
