We are proud to announce the inaugural North American Grand Championship Performance Trial, being held November 4-7, 2018, in Fitzpatrick, AL. This trial will rival the Great Hound Trial of 1905 and the original Hardaway Trial to take its place in the annals of North American sporting history. We will be hunting the hallowed ground of Fitzpatrick, Alabama, the birthplace of the mounted hunting performance trials. The forerunner of this endeavor began in 1996 as a competition for the Hardaway Crossbreds. Ben Hardaway’s popularity and success in hound breeding made it a great success and set a sound template for competing high performance hounds.

This Grand Championship will continue those ideals by including the best hounds hunting this continent today through the same legendary country. Epp Wilson, MFH spearheaded the Hark Forward performance trials, drawing 36 couple of hounds from 37 hunts across North America qualified for this historic event. Twelve qualifier performance trials were run during the 2017-18 season to assure this trial will have the best hunting hounds from across the continent, Canada to Florida and California to New York, competing for Grand Champion. There will be a premier field of honored benefactors in the forefront, followed by a field of volunteers, landowners, and qualifying hunt participants. What is sure is that all will be in the hunt and part of the history being made.

Become a Benefactor of this historic event. This is the time to take your place among many great names in foxhunting history, see old friends and make new ones. The southern hospitality will be unparalleled. From the hunt breakfasts, dinner parties, calcutta and hound show to the legendary hunting, the entire experience will exude the jovial sporting comraderie famous at High Log Lodge and the Fitzpatrick hunting country.

Benefactors will also be building a legacy for the future of our sport as the proceeds are dedicated the Masters of Foxhounds headquarters and museum currently under construction in Middleburg, VA. This legacy will create a public platform to promote and educate others about our sport. Benefactors will be listed on the Donor recognition plaques to be displayed at the new headquarters.

Benefactors will ride in a premier field for the fee of $5000 paid to the Masters of Foxhound Association Foundation. $4000 of this is tax deductible. Benefits of being a Benefactor include all events for one person, stabling for two horses, and six meals over the event. Only benefactors are eligible to ride in the premier field. Each benefactor can bring two guests at an additional $250 per person plus stabling if needed, For those arriving early, there is the option of attending the Callaway Gardens Steeplechase in Pine Mountain, GA on November 3.

Due to size restrictions, only benefactors and their guests, qualifying hunts, volunteers, and landowners will be invited to participate in the Grand Championship. There are few opportunities to become part of sporting history. Now is the time to be part of this hound challenge while leaving a legacy to the future of the sport.
