2015 Live Oak Hounds USPC Foxhunting Challenge Awards Recognize Junior Foxhunters Nationwide

The ninth annual Live Oak Hounds USPC Foxhunting Challenge Award is made possible through the generous support of Mr. and Mrs. C. Martin Wood III, Joint Masters of the Live Oak Hounds in Monticello, Florida, and Past Presidents of the MFHA. The Award is designed to encourage Pony Club members who do not regularly hunt to try the sport, and to reward members who hunt on a regular basis to act as mentors to the less-experienced Pony Club members. $10,000 in awards will go to the top six Pony Clubs who regularly take the greatest number of active Pony Club members out hunting.

Congratulations to the 2015 Challenge winners:

  • 1st Place: Old Dominion Hounds Pony Club in Virginia who hunted with Old Dominion Hounds.
  • 2nd Place: Green Spring Hounds Pony Club in Maryland who hunted with Green Springs Valley Hounds, Elkridge Harford Hunt and Mt. Carmel Hounds.
  • Tied for 3rd Place: Elkridge-Harford Pony Club in Maryland who hunted with Elkridge-Harford Hunt; and Moore County Pony Club in North Carolina who hunted with Moore County Hounds.

Dr. Gilbert Rogers Receives MFHA New England District Conservation Award

Through the efforts of Dr. Gilbert Rodgers of Medfield, Massachusetts, the use of the former Medfield State Hospital property by the Norfolk Hunt Club has been retained in perpetuity and that right is enshrined in the law. It was a privilege to recognize Dr. Rogers at the New England Hunts Hound Show—an individual whose efforts reflect the best of the traditions of foxhunting and the preservation of open land for current and future generations.
