Red Rock Hounds has had a really busy summer which was kicked off with the Annual Red Rock Hounds Summer Show in June. This annual show is a great community show that offers a chance for the horse community to come together and has both a mini and a full derby class. The derby classes were a great opportunity to show off our wonderful horses, their skills and invite the community to try hunting. The was a great success with a solid turnout and great community building event for the horse and open space community.
We then hosted a great Summer Adult Camp. Riders came in from in and out of state to ride with Red Rock twice a day for a week. Riders worked both in the arena to prepare for and then practice riding out across country to become better, more confident and secure riders. Plus riding out from Red Rock Hounds providing some amazing vistas and beautiful rides in open space. The group worked hard and really improved under the excellent instruction of Lynn Lloyd and Angela Murray.
Red Rock Hounds then participated in the annual 4th of July Parade in Virginia City. We had a fabulous turnout with 30 riders and a wonderful pack of hounds that are wonderful ambassadors to the community. The Red Rock Hounds was the anchor of the parade and was well loved as the hounds went wandering into the crowd to be loved.
Red Rock is also doing a LOT of preparation work for the 9th Tri Annual Pacific District Joint Meet which will be held atRed Rock October 14-19th. With all the Pacific Hunts coming out, Red Rock is doing its best to put a fabulous event together. There's work to coordinate to provide lodging for both riders and their horses. The Denim and Diamonds Hunt Ball will be held on October 17th to celebrate the event. Horn blowing and whip cracking will be part of the entertainment. This event always provides such a great opportunity for camaraderie and community building. Red Rock is looking forward to sharing the gorgeous open vistas and wonderful hunting terrain we have.
Just this last weekend Red Rock hosted its Parade of Puppies. This was a fundraiser for our hounds and starred the four litters of puppies that we have this year. We had a wonderful party and brought the puppies to be loved and played with. Guests were then able to sponsor naming a hound puppy. There was a lot of love and laughter as the puppies romped and chewed and snuggled.
